This week’s article roundup features some discussions on senior leadership, sales leadership, personal finances, and video games. Enjoy!
Leadership
Two great reads this week, one article (that was actually published in 2018 but still super insightful) is an HBR post on how CEOs manage their time. The study looked at the proportionality on where CEOs spend the greatest percentages of their time and how they effectively delegate to their direct reports. Also discusses what activities yield the highest leverage results for the company without getting drowned in micromanagement.
On a very different note, on the topic of Revenue and Sales leadership is the growing importance of Partner Ops—having an operations team and tech stack that serves your Partner ecosystem.
Personal Finances
Two interesting reads this week, one on how Credit Card companies are using your habits and tendencies against you to get you into debt. Also how their marketing messaging changes depending on the demographic—both in terms of what benefits they highlight, and what fees they hide to attract potential customers.
Another article exploring the future of transportation and how car ownership will be a thing of the past. With self-driving cars slowly gaining ground, these “automated taxis” will reduce the need to own a car. I think we’ll see this concept expand to other areas in our lives, including property ownership over time. This is especially the case in the working remote environment that has emerged during the pandemic. “Work from anywhere” may mean less need to own a residence, and soon many knowledge workers becoming “digital nomads” (this is already happening).
