Weekend Brew

This weekend we have more reads on SPACs, Crypto, and digitizing your business. Also, take a look at my articles on how I streamlined my weekly GTD review process and how to manage ambiguous tasks in your task manager. Enjoy!

Finance

Covered during last week’s Weekend Brew, SPACs have risen in popularity, but as TechCrunch notes, many companies that have SPAC’d have shed tons of market capitalization over the past few weeks. Hype will always be the real enemy of accurate valuations.

On the crypto front, the US Treasury is now calling for stricter rules and IRS reporting for crypto trading, as many high net worth individuals are using Crypto to evade taxation.

Leadership

An HBR article discusses how digitizing your business in the face of the pandemic is not the same thing as modernizing your business. Repositioning it to be competitive in a constantly evolving environment needs to be considered as well. A useful read, helpful to know the difference, and good to know that you have to both digitize and reposition as the market demands.

  • Obsidian vs. Roam: Which PKM App is Right For You? — The Sweet Setup — The Sweet Setup reviews the different Personal Knowledge Management apps out there now, and which they find to be the most useful. Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) is a very new area, centered around documenting and connecting your ideas and notes. It’s a fast-evolving space and getting more interesting by the day. I, for one, am using Craft for this purpose.
